The Benefits of Blepharoplasty

If time and circumstances have given you crow’s feet, sagging upper eyelids, and permanent bags under your eyes, you may look older than you feel. Blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery) can erase the effects of time, gravity, and stress to bring out a more youthful and attractive appearance.

No More Sagging Skin or Droopy Eyelids

Sagging skin is a common sign of aging in the upper eyelids. When it causes eyelid hooding, sagging skin may lead to vision impairment. Droopy lids can make you look like you are always tired, and excess skin may also make it more difficult to apply eye makeup. During eyelid surgery, Dr. Agullo can remove excess upper eyelid skin. This creates a more youthful and refreshed appearance and eliminates eyelid hooding for improved sight lines.

Fewer Wrinkles and Creases

Before and After BlepharoplastyWrinkles and creases are commonly found around the eyes of individuals of all ages. However, excess wrinkles portray a more noticeably aged appearance. Blepharoplasty tightens the delicate tissues around the eyes to minimize wrinkles such as brow furrows and crow’s feet so that the eyes appear more naturally youthful.

No More Bags or Dark Circles Under Your Eyes

Another common sign of aging is when bags or dark circles appear permanently etched beneath the eyes. By trimming away excess fat storage from under the eye, Dr. Agullo can eliminate these dark circles or puffy bags to soften your appearance. This will help you to look more awake and refreshed.

Easily Combined With Other Procedures

Many individuals who desire blepharoplasty would also benefit from additional facial rejuvenation procedures. Blepharoplasty can easily be combined with other procedures to rejuvenate more than just the eyes. Often, patients will combine blepharoplasty with facelift surgery, fat injections, lip augmentation, rhinoplasty, a brow lift, a neck lift, or protein-rich plasma (PRP) injections. Combining eyelid surgery with one or more of these procedures can maximize your time and budget and will also give you a whole new look all at once.

Look and Feel Many Years Younger

As the eyes are one of the most prominent facial features, aging eyes will age your whole appearance. Simply undergoing eyelid surgery can make you look and feel many years younger. In fact, many of Dr. Agullo’s patients have indicated that blepharoplasty has led them to receive many compliments about their age. Blepharoplasty can improve your appearance, enhance your confidence and self-esteem, and help you to look and feel younger. Three Ways Hair Restoration Procedures Are More Successful Than Ever

The International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery, or ISHRS, has recently published a study showing tremendous increases in the number of people – primarily men – who have chosen to undergo hair restoration surgery over the last ten years. From 2006 to present day, there was an incredible 76 percent increase in the number of procedures performed, and since 2012, the market size for hair-restoration surgery has increased 28 percent. The hair restoration industry is now larger than $2.5 billion, and numbers are showing no sign of slowing down. According to the ISHRS’ report, there were about 397,000 hair-restoration procedures done worldwide in 2014. As you would expect, a great majority of these are performed on men, but there has been a steady increase in the number of women choosing to undergo hair restoration as well. The market increases in hair restoration procedures are no accident, and here we are going to highlight the three main reasons for the uptick.
  1. Hair transplant surgeries are much quicker to perform and recover from. More than two-thirds of the respondents in ISHRS’ study reported only needing one procedure to achieve the desired results they were looking for in hair restoration. The same results typically took five to ten procedures in the past, and thus many more people are willing to undergo the surgery.
  2. Advances in cell removal and restoration have made it much easier to grow back your own hair. With PRP (protein rich plasma), the cells used are from the patient’s own body, making it possible to grow your own hair within only a few short months. These treatments have been very successful and that makes it more attractive to men who want a realistic hair regrowth solution.
  3. Hair restoration procedures are relatively painless. Although some patients did report some soreness and pain after the surgery, most reported feeling fine during and after the procedure. Full recoveries usually only take 10 to 14 days before the scabs left from the surgery can no longer be seen. A post-op regiment to clean and treat the scalp area is typically given by the surgeon to help it to heal faster and remove much of the discomfort during recovery.

Going Organic Isn’t Just for Your Diet

Going organic may be the new diet trend, but for many people, it’s much more than that – it’s a lifestyle. An organic lifestyle means living a lifestyle that is healthy for you and the environment. It also means ridding your life and body of harmful processed chemicals. Going organic offers positive benefits, but some may wonder, at what cost? Does going organic mean you have to stop caring about your appearance? Of course not! With natural body enhancement procedures, you can live an organic lifestyle AND undergo “organic” beauty enhancement procedures using only materials harvested from your own body.

Facial Rejuvenation With Protein Rich Plasma (PRP)

Organic Plastic SurgeryAs a natural consequence of aging, our faces begin to thin out and develop fine lines and wrinkles. But with protein rich plasma (PRP) injections for facial rejuvenation, you can reduce the signs of aging with natural materials. PRP is blood plasma enriched with platelets that promote healing and growth, and it’s found in your body. PRP injections have been used for years to promote healing, and they are increasingly used for natural beauty enhancement. For the procedure, blood is drawn from a vein in your arm and then processed to separate out the protein rich plasma. A few minutes later, Dr. Agullo injects the PRP into target areas of your face to rejuvenate it. The face then naturally forms more collagen and blood vessels, effectively minimizing wrinkles and reversing volume loss. PRP injections can be combined with fat grafting for even more dramatic yet natural results.

Fat Transfer for Your Face, Breasts, and Butt

Wrinkles and volume loss are largely due to a loss of skin elasticity and lack of tissue fullness. The face, breasts, and buttocks are particularly vulnerable to skin laxity and volume loss over time. Fat injections can be used to counteract the signs of aging by filling in the tissues with fat harvested from elsewhere on the body. Dr. Frank Agullo uses liposuction to remove fat from one area of the body, and he then purifies it to eliminate imperfections before injecting it into the target area. The harvested fat includes stem cells that aid in skin rejuvenation and collagen production to tighten the skin. These techniques are used for natural facial rejuvenation, breast augmentation, and butt augmentation, and they allow you to undergo beauty enhancement procedures with an organic lifestyle.

Organic Beauty Enhancement

You don’t have to stop caring about your appearance when you go organic. While some people choose synthetic fillers and implants, you can have organic beauty enhancement using material from your own body. PRP and fat are both natural materials that can be utilized by the skilled hands of plastic surgeon Dr. Agullo to provide you with natural beauty enhancement. How Does Stress Affect Your Beauty?

Beauty Restoration Treatments

Beauty Restoration TreatmentsStress is an unfortunate fact of life. For people living with chronic stress, their bodies take a serious beating. Chronic stress disrupts the natural hormone levels in your body, causing homeostatic imbalances that can lead to health issues like heartburn, respiratory problems, cardiac irregularities, and insomnia. Stress sometimes gets expressed externally as well, altering your beauty. The effects of stress may cause:

Wrinkles

When you are stressed, your muscles have a tendency to be tense. Muscle tension in the face, mainly in the forehead and around the eyes, can etch in deep wrinkles. These wrinkles prematurely age the face.

Solution:

PRP (Protein Rich Plasma) Facial Rejuvenation: Blood plasma enriched with platelets that release growth factors to promote collagen production and healing.
  • PRP treatments combined with dermal fillers or fat grafting can achieve smooth, younger-looking skin.

Hollow Eyes and Cheeks

People that suffer from chronic stress will occasionally experience bouts of insomnia. Lack of sleep leads to dark, puffy under-eye bags and hollow cheeks, which make you appear constantly fatigued.

Solution:

Fat injections: The transfer of fat into areas of the face that have experienced a loss of volume.
  • Smoothing under-eye bags and plumping sunken cheeks restores a rested appearance and a bright complexion.

Weight Gain

Some people have a tendency to overeat as an emotional coping mechanism for stress. The increased caloric intake is often accompanied by a lack of motivation to exercise, which can cause you to pack on the pounds. During stressful times, your body also produces hormones that cause you to store excess fat. Unfortunately, there isn't a cosmetic procedure to help you lose a major amount of weight. You can lose weight with the help of a nutritionist, personal trainer, and personal determination. Once you have lost weight, you may be discouraged to find excess skin and clinging fat deposits you didn't have before.

Solution:

Body Contouring: A combination of surgical procedures that may include liposuction, tummy tuck, and arm lift surgery.
  • Removes excess skin and fat
  • Tightens and tones the area
  • Restores pleasing body contours

Hair Loss

Hair loss normally occurs six weeks to three months after the initial stressful event. After a traumatic event, the body releases hormones that disrupt the natural hair growth cycle. For some people, stress causes ticks where they pull out an excessive amount of their hair.

Solution:

In most cases, your hair cycle will return to normal. If it doesn't, the stress may have exacerbated an underlying medical condition. PRP for Hair Loss: Wakes up dormant hair follicles and stimulates them to grow. Hair Transplant: Takes hair follicles from donor sites and transplants them to areas where the hair is thinning or bald. Schedule your consultation with Dr. Agullo to erase signs of stress and restore your vibrant, beautiful self. Call our office today at (915) 590-7900 or fill out our online contact form here.

Feeding Follicles: Protein Rich Plasma and Hair Regrowth

The search for the perfect way to regrow hair is about as legendary -- and some might say as historically longstanding -- as the search for the fabled Fountain of Youth. But legend and fable have nothing to do with one of the latest and most promising procedures available to promote hair growth: Protein, or Platelet Rich Plasma. The same medical procedure used to speed up the healing of wounds and recovery from surgery may also have applicable benefits to reviving dormant hair cells. side profile of woman with long brown hairWhile some remain skeptical, Platelet Rich Plasma has been demonstrated to wake up dormant hair follicle stem cells. That makes PRP what could be the next big breakthrough in the treatment of hair loss. Dr. Frank Agullo, an M.D. and board-certified plastic surgeon at El Paso Cosmetic Surgery, acknowledges that PRP may indeed be the best medical treatment advance to address hair loss since Propecia, but it is not a cure-all for everyone. Experienced surgeons like Dr. Agullo must do a comprehensive analysis of each hair loss client before suggesting any kind of treatment, let alone knowing what the best course of action would be as certain treatments favor certain individual types. When platelets are activated in the human body, the sponge-like molecules form branches while releasing proteins that heal. These proteins are called growth factors and these growth factors do everything with the end result being accelerated tissue and wound healing. A recent case study cited online http://www.regrowhair.com/hair-loss-blog/can-platelet-rich-plasma-prp-stop-hair-loss-and-grow-hair/ involving a 26-year-old man suggests that platelet rich plasma can stop and reverse hair miniaturization caused by male pattern baldness. Experts explain that due to the concentrated nature of PRP and its ability to be used in specific, targeted or isolated areas, Platelets can also improve coagulation and lessen bleeding. Since platelets are also steeped in proteins, it may allow them to better help the healing process on grafting areas too. While PRP treatment may not be for everyone, and may not yield the same results for everyone, it does show promise, primarily because of the introduction of platelets and white blood cells through platelet rich plasma (PRP). That amplifies the body’s naturally-occurring wound healing mechanism. Others propose that PRP can actually stimulate the stem cells (dermal papilla) of the newly transplanted hair follicles. Some practitioners also claim that PRP can be used to stimulate the growth of follicles, thereby reversing hair miniaturization seen in androgenetic alopecia and even preventing hair loss.
