Lower Body Lift in El Paso, TX

Significant weight loss, dramatic weight fluctuations, and the natural effects of aging can cause individuals to struggle with excess sagging skin. Loose skin is especially prone to develop in the midsection and the area below the waist.

A circumferential body lift procedure is the fastest and most efficient way for patients to attain the body they want. This procedure addresses skin laxity and unwanted fat deposits in the abdomen, waist, hips, lateral thighs, and buttocks. Depending on each patient’s unique needs and anatomy, this comprehensive body contouring and skin removal surgery may include several surgical techniques.

Dr. Frank Agullo has the extensive knowledge and experience required to provide men and women with stunning lower body lift results. He uses modern plastic and reconstructive surgery techniques to smooth and contour the areas of the body that carry excess skin or stubborn fat deposits.

What Are the Benefits of a Lower Body Lift?

The lower body lift is beneficial for men and women who feel disheartened by having excess folds of skin on their body, especially after working so hard to achieve their weight loss.

This procedure is ideal for patients hoping to achieve:

A Slimmer Silhouette

You can enjoy a svelte and beautiful silhouette after undergoing body lift surgery. A lower body lift involves removing excess skin and fat circumferentially around the waistline to enhance the body’s natural contours.

Shapely Buttocks

As the lower body tissues are lifted and excess skin is removed, the shape of the butt can be improved.

Dr. Agullo is also highly skilled at performing fat transfer for autologous buttock augmentation (Brazilian Butt Lift) during lower body lift surgery. This technique utilizes your own tissue to enhance the buttocks for a smooth transition from the surgical site to the rest of the body.

Improved Comfort

Folds of excess tissue can cause painful skin irritation and infections, limit your mobility, and make it difficult to find flattering clothing. Choosing to undergo lower body lift surgery eliminates the discomfort associated with overhanging skin and can dramatically improve your quality of life.

Am I a Candidate for a Lower Body Lift?

Candidates for a lower body lift are men and women with significant excess skin on their lower body. Candidates are at or near their ideal weight, do not smoke, have realistic expectations of their results, and are in generally good health.

You may be a candidate for a lower body lift if you:

  • Desire a firmer, smoother figure
  • Experience uncomfortable skin irritation due to overhanging skin
  • Want a body that complements your massive weight loss achievement
  • Want improvement in your abdomen, back, thighs, and buttocks

He will also:

  • Discuss your goals for the procedure

What Does a Lower Body Lift Include?

Lower body lift surgery is designed to sculpt and contour the entire physique rather than target isolated areas. The specific techniques involved are tailored to each patient’s individual anatomy for customized results.

There are several components of a lower body lift procedure, and it is performed with the patient under general anesthesia. Depending on your aesthetic goals, the procedure techniques may be performed during one surgical session or in multiple stages.

Circumferential Tummy Tuck

Circumferential Tummy Tuck

Tummy tuck surgery enhances the abdominal area by removing sagging skin and tightening the underlying rectus abdominis muscles. In a lower body lift, the tummy tuck incision is created circumferentially around the waistline. There are several approaches to this procedure that can be used depending on the extent of correction required.

The result is a smoother abdominal surface and a narrower waistline.

Liposuction

Liposuction

Liposuction techniques target isolated pockets of fat throughout the body. This procedure provides precise definition enhancement by removing stubborn fat and revealing the contours underneath.

A narrow tube called a cannula is used to suction fat cells through tiny incisions near the target area. While liposuction is not meant for weight loss, it does produce a more toned and fit appearance.

Buttock Lift

Buttock Lift

In a lower body lift, an apron of excess tissue is removed from around the midsection, enabling the buttocks to be lifted. Dr. Agullo often combines this procedure with Brazilian Butt Lift surgery to improve buttock projection and contour simultaneously.

Thigh Lift

Thigh Lift

A circumferential body lift also targets the thighs. Loose skin is lifted in the anterior and lateral thighs. The procedure can be combined with a medial thigh lift to transform it into a spiral lift that lifts the thighs circumferentially.

At Agullo Plastic Surgery, tailored care begins with a full consultation to discuss the goals and options available.

How Should I Prepare for My Lower Body Lift?

Planning for your surgery ahead of time will help make your lower body lift recovery process faster and more comfortable. During your consultation, you will be given detailed preparation instructions that may advise you to do the following:

  • Ask a relative or friend to drive you to and from your surgery.
  • Fill all of your prescriptions before surgery, as you will be unable to drive for some time.
  • Have your required paperwork and ID ready the day before your scheduled procedure.
  • Refrain from using tobacco products for six weeks before surgery to minimize the risk of complications.
  • Do not eat or drink after midnight on the day of your surgery.

Results and Recovery After a Lower Body Lift

What Can I Expect for My Lower Body Lift Recovery?

Depending on the techniques used for your lower body lift procedure, you may need to stay at the hospital overnight for observation. Plan to stay home from work for at least two weeks while you recover.

You are encouraged to walk around as soon as possible to reduce the risk of blood clots and promote healthy blood flow. It will be easier to move around, and your figure will be more defined.

Is the Recovery After a Lower Body Lift Painful?

With most plastic surgery procedures, you will likely experience pain during your recovery. Discomfort is expected for a couple of weeks, but this can be minimized with prescription pain medication.

When Will I See My Final Body Lift Results?

Most patients notice a dramatic difference in their physique right after their lower body lift procedure, but the final results may be obscured by swelling and bruising. While your body adjusts to its new shape and side effects dissipate, you will see continuous improvement over several months.

How Long Will My Lower Body Lift Surgery Results Last?

The outcome of lower body lift surgery is considered permanent as long as you maintain a stable weight and have no pregnancies following the procedure. Drastic weight fluctuations and pregnancy can compromise your results and may necessitate revision surgery.

This procedure does not prevent the natural aging process, so some subsequent skin laxity may develop over time.

Maintaining a healthy diet and lifestyle can help your skin retain elasticity and prevent weight gain so you can enjoy your body lift results as long as possible.

How Much Does a Lower Body Lift Cost?

The cost of every lower body lift procedure varies depending on the extent of correction required and which techniques are performed. We provide approximate prices for each procedure on our fee schedule, which include anesthesia fees, facility fees, medical tests, compression garments, and some recovery products. Prescription medication is not included in the fee estimate.

All costs should be completely paid for before your scheduled surgery.

Will Insurance Cover My Lower Body Lift?

Most cosmetic surgeries are not covered by medical insurance, as they are considered to be elective procedures; however, lower body lift surgery may be covered by some insurance plans, and this will be determined during your consultation.

Frequently Asked Questions About Lower Body Lift Surgery

Will a lower body lift help me lose weight?

A lower body lift will not help you lose weight. Instead, a lower body lift removes excess skin and fat left on a person’s body after massive weight loss.

That being said, depending on the amount of excess skin you have, removing it may shed quite a few pounds. However, the purpose of a lower body lift should not be to lose weight.

Should I be at my ideal weight before undergoing skin removal surgery?

Since a body lift will not help you lose weight, it is recommended you be at or near your ideal weight before undergoing surgery. This will give the surgeon more accuracy in creating your desired appearance, and it will produce better results.

Will I have scars after my lower body lift?

Since a lower body lift requires a long incision around the body, scarring is inevitable. Dr. Agullo will work to place the incision in an inconspicuous location, if possible. The scars are usually easy to hide with a bikini or underwear. The anterior abdominal scars are placed below the hairline of the mons and extend posteriorly in a G-string shape. Lower body scars will fade over time.

Can I combine any other procedures with my lower body lift?

In some cases, it is possible to combine other procedures with a lower body lift. The most common procedures performed at the same time are breast surgeries, arm lifts, and upper back lifts. Please speak with Dr. Agullo to determine if any other procedures can be added to your lower body lift.

What are the risks of a lower body lift?

Although a lower body lift is a generally safe procedure, risks are present with any plastic surgery.

These risks include:

  • Bleeding
  • Fluid accumulation
  • Infection
  • Blood clots
  • Anesthesia risks
  • Scarring
  • Skin discoloration

Please follow all of Dr. Agullo’s pre- and post-surgical instructions to minimize your risk of complications during and after surgery.
