October 01, 2026 | Non-Surgical Enhancement Treatments

Every month a new specials board goes up at the Med Spa, and every month someone points at it during a surgical consult and asks, “What does this one actually do?”
This month, the first question will be about BBL. So let me start there.
Renew. BBL BroadBand Light: $700 for a Package of Three
At the Med Spa, BBL stands for BroadBand Light. It is a light-based photofacial, not the Brazilian butt lift.
BroadBand Light delivers filtered pulses of light that are absorbed by pigment and by blood vessels. That makes it a tool for color problems in the skin:
- Sun spots, freckling and uneven brown pigment
- Diffuse redness and small visible vessels
- The dull, blotchy look left behind by a long El Paso summer
Treated brown spots typically darken over the first few days and then flake away. Results build across a series, which is why the October offer is a package: three sessions for $700.
The safety point I make with every light-based treatment: risk of pigment change is higher in darker skin tones, Fitzpatrick IV to VI. That changes the settings and it changes who is a good candidate. In a practice where most patients are skin types three to six, that screening is not optional.
Restore. Boo-Tiful Facial Balancing: $3,650
The Halloween name is fun. The plan behind it is clinical.
Facial balancing here means upper face neurotoxin and dermal filler, assessed and placed together. Toxin relaxes the muscles behind dynamic lines in the upper face. Filler restores structure and support where volume has been lost. Planned together, the face is treated as one picture.
The fine print on the flyer says “nurse’s discretion of product.” That means our nurse injector chooses which toxin and which filler, and where, based on your anatomy. Patients do better with a plan than with a syringe count picked off a menu.
Revive. TCA SkinCeuticals Corrective Peel: 20% Off
TCA is trichloroacetic acid, the workhorse of medium-depth chemical peeling. I have been asked many times what I think of peels. My answer:
“I think that peels are great. They do a great job with fine lines and wrinkles and some pigmentation changes, and they do create a refreshment in the face.”
Where I draw the line: “In our practice, we only perform light to medium peels, so the results are light to medium.” The reason is the patient population and the geography. “Patients in the one and two can have deeper peels without having as much risk of hypo or hyperpigmentation, and this is true also for laser treatments. So we are limited by the geography as well, in terms of lots of sun exposure in the southwest.”
For higher-risk patients, preparation starts before the peel. “We will pre-treat with skin lighteners and prepare the skin beforehand.” Aftercare is strict: “After a light to moderate peel, there is strict no sun exposure for the first four weeks, and it continues to be strict for the first three to four months.” For melasma, “the avoidance of sun exposure and protection should be a lifetime lifestyle.”
If the goal is deeper resurfacing or real tightening, a peel is not the right tool. “We can get better resurfacing with our Sciton MicroLaserPeel and Profractional laser, and we can get skin tightening with our Morpheus8.”
