What a Tummy Tuck Actually Costs in El Paso (And What Moves the Number)

A patient asked me last week why the quote she got from a surgeon in Mexico was less than half of ours. It’s a fair question, and I’d rather answer it directly than let her guess.

Our starting price for a tummy tuck ranges from $16,000 to $26,000, and it’s genuinely all-inclusive. That covers the surgeon’s fee, the OR fee, anesthesia, your garments, and your pre- and postoperative vitamins and supplements, including SinEcch (Arnica and Bromelain tablets for bruising and swelling), Skinuva scar cream, a skin moisturizer (usually Elastin), and Exparel for long-acting pain control. Your BBL pillow is included if you need one, along with every lymphatic drainage massage and every postop visit. The only thing you’re responsible for is picking up your prescriptions at the pharmacy.

Why the Number Isn’t the Same Everywhere

Prices vary by the surgeon’s experience, by where the surgeon is located since some cities carry higher overhead than others, and by demand for that specific surgeon. Case complexity matters too: the combination of procedures and the time I expect to spend in the operating room both move the number.

Mini, Standard, Extended, or Circumferential

The type of tummy tuck has a direct effect on cost, because it changes how much time and work the operation actually takes.

Type Who it’s for Incision
Mini tummy tuck Minimal loose skin, minimal stretch marks About the length of a C-section
Standard abdominoplasty Considerable loose skin Standard horizontal incision
Extended abdominoplasty Abdominal fold extends past the hip bones Extended to the length of the fold
Circumferential body lift Circumferential loose skin, buttock ptosis Goes all the way around

The more extensive the procedure and the more OR time it takes, the higher the cost climbs.

Combining Procedures Usually Saves Money

Combining a tummy tuck with liposuction, or with a full mommy makeover, is common, and it’s generally more cost-effective than doing each separately, since you’re sharing one anesthesia, one operating room, and one recovery. Keep in mind the tummy tuck itself is the piece that changes recovery the most in a combined surgery, about two weeks back to normal activity and six weeks back to exercise.

Financing Options

We work with PatientFi, AlphaEon, Cherry, and CareCredit. We also offer direct financing through the practice itself, letting you make payments toward your surgery ahead of time and schedule your procedure around a timeline that works for you. Credit card, cash, and outside bank financing are all welcome too.

Is a Cheaper Tummy Tuck Ever Worth It

I always feel like when something looks too good to be true, it usually is. If a price is far below what everyone else is charging, ask what’s being cut: the surgeon’s experience, the accreditation of the facility, the type of anesthesia, or the follow-up care.

I perform a lot of revision tummy tucks and revision abdominoplasties for surgeries done by other surgeons, both around the United States and in Mexico. The cost of revising an abdominoplasty is far greater than the fee for the initial surgery would have been, and the final result is usually compromised: the patient doesn’t get the result she would have had if it were done correctly the first time. A bargain that costs you a revision, or your health, is not a bargain at all.
