A New York mother of 29 died in August of fat emboli in both lungs after liposuction and a BBL at a Miami clinic; the same week a comedian joked on television about getting “the deadliest surgery you can get.” The name is earned. Every BBL embolism on record had fat injected into the muscle. Here is the protocol that changed that in my operating room, the one question to ask any surgeon, and the patients I still turn away.
