Two questions open every breast reduction consult. Does insurance cover it. What does it cost.
First one first. I do not work with insurance. If you want a surgeon who accepts insurance, we are happy to recommend one. That is the whole answer, and I would rather give it to you now than after you have read the page.
Second one.
How much does a breast reduction cost?
Dr. Agullo: “As of this writing, a breast reduction starts at 14,500 dollars. You can always find our current fees at agulloplasticsurgery.com/fees, which is the page we keep updated.”
What drives the cost up or down?
Dr. Agullo: “Several things can affect the total. One is the internal bra mesh, which provides internal support and, when it is used, adds to the cost. Liposuction is often combined with a breast reduction to refine the sides and the contour, and any additional lifting of the breast can add to the total as well. The final cost depends on the combination of these elements and the length and complexity of the procedure.”
So: starting at $14,500, our published fee as of September 2026, on the fees page with everything else I do. The rest of this post is what that number covers, what pushes it up, and what the first six months look like.
What the $14,500 Includes
Everything but your prescriptions.
Operating room. Anesthesia. Garments, which for a breast reduction means two surgical bras. Vitamins. Post-scar care. You pick up your own medications at the pharmacy. That is it.
The tissue I remove goes to a pathology lab. The lab is a separate business and bills your insurance directly for the analysis. We never submit a claim. It does not run through us.
What Moves the Number Up

Side liposuction plus Renuvion is the same pair that moves a gynecomastia quote. Remove the volume, tighten the skin over it.
Revisions run higher and less predictably. A redo of someone else’s reduction is more complex than a first operation. I say so up front.
A Reduction Is a Lift, Plus One Step
Same incisions as a mastopexy. Same lift. One added step: tissue comes out. Smaller and lifted in one operation.
Want the upper pole full again without going smaller and without an implant? That is the auto-augmentation lift. Have implants and want less? That is implant downsizing, a different operation on a different patient.
Recovery: The Shape Is Instant, the Result Takes Six Months
Both halves are true.
The breast is smaller and lifted the moment you wake up. What needs to settle is everything around it.
- Drains out at one week.
- Normal, easy-going activity at one week.
- Bruising two to three weeks.
- Exercise at four weeks.
- The special bra for four weeks. No underwire, no pushup. We give you two.
- Swelling takes about three months to settle, six months to settle completely.
After the four weeks in the surgical bra, you can go shopping for new bras. I say it at every post-op visit. Most of my patients have waited years to hear it.
Who Is a Candidate
You want smaller, lifted breasts. You are off nicotine in every form, because a reduction is a flap operation and I will not do one on a nicotine user. You are paying out of pocket, or you want the referral. That is the list.
